Objectives
The project is focusing on strengthening of women in a peri-urban situation through their capacity building and engagement in environmental friendly agricultural activities. The project aims in working intensively with 200 target women. These women have been organized in actives groups. To start with the awareness building activities on various issues related with women development and the need for women to get themselves involved in activities required for environment protection and development will be taken up. Subsequently their capacity building initiative will be taken up for the involvement of these target women in different environment friendly income earning activities The project includes Vegetable gardening, Mushroom cultivation, Vermin composting and Waste management etc. These activities will also help them earning considerable amount of additional income in the family. Through the implementation of this project we are expecting to create an instance of women led environmental initiatives in a peri-urban setting which may inspire other people including women to take up similar activities for sustainable development initiative at the grass root level. The success of this project is expected to have demonstration effect for replication all around.
